Day 21-Sunday June 15- Medicine Hat to Eagle Valley Campground

What a delightful day of cycling covering 94.3K over rolling prairie hills. The sun was an ever present friend with a few scattered clouds. This is a secluded area with few coffee shops -our only stop was a gas station in Walsh, close to the Sask. border. We saw several prong horned antelope resting in the grass, a coyote and Dave 2 identified several willet birds. A photo-op was necessary at the Sk border.
The RV suffered slight damage to a roof vent which only needed duct tape to fix.
Dave 3 had the first tire failure- a huge bulge which slowed him down only slightly. Here we are at Eagle Valley Campground 4.5K from the Maple Creek turnoff- one of the nicest places we've stayed.
Pat and Ute made a spectacular dinner tonight- authentic elk and beef sausage from Premier Sausage Co., saurkraut with perogies and a cake topped with 2 candles celebrating leaving Alberta.
Tomorrow we are heading for Gull lake or ...
That's all for now! Adele

Hi Jim and Ute!

Delma sent me the blog address and I have been reading your adventures. I hope I can catch up to you, but you will have a bit more than 3 weeks head start. I leave Mile 0 in Victoria with the Tour du Canada on Friday June 20.

I figure I may catch up to you around Ottawa, but you are riding quite fast! You can read where I will be at http://members.shaw.ca/petersfreeman and click on the Tour du Canada link.

May the sun shine (not to hot) and the wind be at your back!

Hi folks. Joan and I are following your trip with great interest and considerable nostalgia, particularly now that you're following our route of last year. We too stayed at Eagle Ridge CG, and enroute to Gull Lake municipal CG, we ate b'fast/lunch at the Buffalo Beans cafe where we had fried chicken, vegies and mashed potatos.

If she's yet the mng of the very fine Gull Lake CG, please say hi to Ann for us. She may not remember our names, but no doubt she'll remember two seniors riding unassisted across Canada.

The CG in Herbert, our next stop, was somewhat tired, and the restaurant in Chaplin had just gone out of business, when we pedalled in for b'fast. We ended up having chickenburgers and fries at the pub.

Take care. Joan and John Pringle
